Sustainability Questions & Answers

Is Azalea Couture a sustainable brand?

Yes. Azalea Couture operates on a made-to-order model, meaning every item is produced only after a customer places an order. This eliminates overproduction — one of the fashion industry’s biggest sources of waste. We also use GRS-certified recycled fabrics and sublimation printing, which uses no water and no toxic inks.

Are Azalea Couture fabrics recycled?

Yes. Our activewear fabrics are made from GRS-certified (Global Recycled Standard) recycled polyester — typically 96% recycled polyester with 4% elastane. Recycled polyester uses significantly less energy and water to produce than virgin polyester and diverts plastic waste from landfills.

Does Azalea Couture overproduce clothing?

No. Every item is printed to order — we do not hold bulk inventory or produce garments speculatively. This means:

  • Zero unsold stock sent to landfill
  • No end-of-season clearance waste
  • No overproduction of any size, including plus sizes

What printing method does Azalea Couture use?

We use sublimation printing — a process where dye is infused directly into the fabric fibres using heat, rather than printed on top. Sublimation printing uses no water in the dyeing process and produces no wastewater. It also creates prints that won’t crack, peel, or fade, meaning garments last longer and need replacing less often.

Is Azalea Couture packaging eco-friendly?

We work with fulfilment partners who use recycled and eco-conscious packaging materials wherever possible, reducing plastic waste across our supply chain.

Why does sustainable plus size activewear matter?

The plus size market has historically been underserved by sustainable fashion brands. Azalea Couture was built to change that — offering sizes L–6XL in recycled, made-to-order activewear at the same price as every other size. Sustainability should be accessible to every body.

We are committed to continuous improvement on this journey. Bold prints. Real sizes. Built for curves. Sizes L – 6XL
